Biography

Ashley Rosa is a PhD Candidate in History at the University of Washington. Her research highlights connections between economic change and environmental policy in the decades after World War II, with an emphasis on how shifts in production and consumption affected the management of parks and other protected areas. She has a Masters in public history from Loyola University in Chicago and has worked for a variety of nonprofits and government agencies, including the U.S. National Park Service. Eleanor is especially interested in the intersection of cultural and natural resource management on public lands. Shortly after receiving her BA, Eleanor worked for a community radio station in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virgina (Allegheny Mountain Radio) and co-authored an oral history collection, Above the Smoke: A Family Album of Pocahontas County Fire Towers.
